3 Days Kibale Forest Chimp Safari Tour

 


Kibale National Park is famous for its 13 species of primates, notably the chimpanzees, man’s closest animal in the whole of Africa. Kibale Forest harbors the

highest population of chimpanzees in Africa (over 1450). Among other primates in Kibale national park, you will see olive baboons, the uncommon I’Hoest’s

monkeys and the endangered red colobus monkeys, bush baby and potto, black and white colobus, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, grey cheeked

mangabeys. This park has over 325 bird species including six Albertine rift endemics i.e. the purple-breasted sunbird, dusky crimsoning, red-faced woodland

warbler, blue-headed sunbird, black-capped apalis and collared apalis. There are other Kibale species such as the African pitta, black bee-eater, green breasted

pitta, Abyssinian ground thrush, black-eared ground thrush, yellow spotted nicator, blue-breasted kingfisher, little green bull, brown-chested alethe, the crowned

eagle and yellow-rumpled tinker bird, and many others. Other mammals include buffalos, elephants, leopards, duikers, bush pigs as well as a variety of colorful

butterflies, amphibians and reptiles.

 


Day 1 - Kampala – Fort Portal


The journey starts on the road going to Fort Portal via Mityana, after an early breakfast at your Kampala hotel. The 4 to 5 hours drive through lush plantations

breaks in Fort Portal for your lunch at Mountains of the Moon Hotel or any other hotel of your choice. Dinner and night will be spent at Mountains Of The Moon Hotel / Chimp Nest Lodge.


Day 2 - Chimp Tracking in Kibale Forest


After morning breakfast, you will start your journey to Kanyanchu. You will be briefed at 08.00am before tracking the chimpanzees. There is a 95% chance you

will encounter habituated chimps – man’s closest living animals. There are no motor tracks open to tourists at the park so they are only accessible by foot. In

the afternoon hours you will enjoy a nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland where you will explore a variety of birds and monkey species. Dinner and overnight stay

will be spent at Mountains of the Moon Hotel or Chimp Nest Lodge.


Day 3 - Transfer back to Kampala


The journey to Kampala will begin after breakfast. On arrival, if interested, you may have the famous Kampala tour in the evening.

You can spend the night at The Lodge Lweza for a quick and jam free airport transfer at your chosen time.

 

6 Days Mountain Gorillas, Wildlife and Chimp Tour

Day 1 - Entebbe – Kampala


Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will meet our tour agent who will take you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time you may have our famous

Kampala tour. Some of the possible places to tour include Buganda Kingdom palace, Bahai temple, Namugongo Uganda martyrs shrine, Kasubi tombs and

Uganda museum. You can spend the night at the Lodge or any other hotel of your choice in Kampala.


Day 2 - Transfer to Bwindi National Park


Start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park after an early morning breakfast. You will drive on Ishash a route and arrive in Buhoma in the evening.

Dine and sleep at Buhoma community Rest Camp/ Gorilla Forest Camp / Buhoma Lodge.


Day 3 - Tracking the Gorillas


After an early morning breakfast, you will take your packed lunch, head for a briefing at the headquarters and start tracking gorillas in the forest at 8:00am. The

time spent in the forest is unpredictable but ranges between 2 to 9 hours depending on the movement of mountain gorillas. Dinner and night will be spent at

Gorilla Forest Camp / Buhoma Lodge / Buhoma community bandas.


Day 4 - Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari


After breakfast you will go to Ishasha Game Reserve and see tree-climbing lions. Then you will have lunch at Queen Elizabeth national park lodge and prepare for

Kazinga Channel for your afternoon game drive. Dinner and night will be spent at Mweya Safari Lodge / Hippo Hill Camp.


Day 5 - Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park


Breakfast will be taken at 6.00am after which you will enjoy a game drive in the northern sector of the park in search for buffaloes, lions, Uganda kobs and many

bird species on Kasenyi trail. Then proceed to Fort Portal for a night at Mountains of the Moon Hotel as the preparation for a chimp trek in Kibale Forest national

park the following morning goes on.


Day 6 - Chimpanzee Trailing


Start your journey to Kibale forest headquarters at 8.00 am in the morning for a 4 hours chimp trail. You will then have lunch and be taken on a ride to Kampala.

You will reach your destination in the evening.

4 Days Bwindi Gorilla Tour



Day 1 - Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari


Safari starts early in the morning after breakfast. Drive from Kampala towards the west and have a stop at the Equator for handicrafts and photos, then continue

with the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park by the magnificent Ruwenzori Mountain range. A game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park will be highly

rewarding for you will see animals including leopards, elephants, hogs, lions, buffaloes, duikers, hyenas, as well as many antelope species.

A 2-hour boat cruise from Kazinga channel to Lake Edward is taken after lunch. The sail offers an opportunity to see the highest concentration of water

submerged hippos at close range, surrounded by over 550 species of migrant and resident birds and crocodiles drinking and resting on the shores. The sail

provides an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. Then you will have dinner and an overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge or

Budget Institute of ecology.


Day 2 - Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi


After breakfast you will enjoy an early morning game drive along Kasenyi track and Queen’s mile in the park. Some of the animals you will see include Cape

buffalo, elephants, topis, kobs, warthogs, waterbucks, hyenas, leopards, as well as lions and many birds. Following the game drive, take a trip to Bwindi via

Maramagambo and Ishasha. Down the road to Ishasha your chances of seeing antelopes, waterbucks, kobs, elephants, and buffalo is very high. Once you get

there you may rest at the exquisite Gorilla Forest Camp where you will dine and sleep.


Day 3 - Bwindi Gorilla Safari


After an early morning breakfast, you will enter into a wonderful rainforest, the gorilla’s sanctuary, as it offers an exciting dense landscape characterized by the

abundance of animals. You will get an opportunity to track them. As one of our client said: ‘I could forever track these lovely animals, and if possible, I would stay

with them every day!”.This statement followed his encounter with wild animal slike the endangered mountain gorillas, elephants, buffalos, giant forest hogs, the

rare golden monkeys, black-fronted duikers, bushbucks and leopards to mention but a few. The gorillas are the highlight of the park and the time spent looking

for these beautiful primates vary according to their movements. Observing, photographing and spending time with these gentle, peaceful and shy apes is a

unique, breath taking, inspiring, and thrilling lifetime memory adventure that will leave you desiring to have it again. The night will be spent at Buhoma

homestead/Buhoma community Camp (FB) buta personal choice is not excluded.


Day 4 - Kampala Tour


After breakfast we will take you to Kampala via Mbarara. Lunch can be arranged for you but most of the time our clients enjoy traditional dishes on the way. On

arrival in Kampala by 5.00 pm you will immediately start with the Kampala tour. Spend the night at The Lodge Lweza for an easy access to the airport.

Day 1 - Elgon Mountaineering Tour


After breakfast our tour guide will drive you to Eastern Uganda at Mt Elgon. You will start your tour with a visit of the famous Sipi falls immediately on arrival. After

being showered in pleasure at the water falls, go to the Kitum Cave. Its overhanging crystalline walls enter 200 meters into the side of Mt. Elgon. You will have

dinner and spend your night at Sipi Falls Rest Camp.
 
Day 2 - Mountain Hiking


Get prepared to climb the highest peak of Mt. Elgon after breakfast. Koitoboss, 13,852 ft high (4155 m) is easily accessible by hikers in about 2 hours from the

road side. Then follow the vehicle routes up to get panoramic views on various animals such as Columbus monkeys, elephants, black-and-white squirrels and

blue monkeys. You will have dinner and spend the night at Sipi Falls Rest Camp.


Day 3 - Kidepo Valley National Park


After breakfast start your journey to Kidepo National Park and reach your destination early enough to have lunch at Apoka Lodge. In the afternoon, you will enjoy

the panoramic views of the Narus river valley as well as the wildlife seen right from the verandah of the lodge. Enjoy dinner and night at Apoka Safari Lodge.

 
Day 4 - Kidepo Wildlife Tour


You will have a morning game drive to Kanangorok hot spring after an early morning breakfast. Kidepo Valley National Park harbors a total of 86 mammal

species, which makes it the National Park with the third highest number of games in Uganda. It protects a far greater variety of large mammals than any other

national park in Uganda. There are 28 species found nowhere else in Uganda. There is a checklist counting463 confirmed and 26 unconfirmed bird species. After

having lunch at the lodge you will proceed to Karenna and Kapedo for a cultural performance given by the native Karamajong people. Enjoy dinner and night at

Apoka Safari Lodge.


Day 5 - Fly to Kampala from Kidepo


One of our agents will pick you up from Entebbe airport and drive you to Kampala. After lunch he will guide you through the famous Kampala City Tour. Later on,

you will tour black rhinos in a semi-natural environment. Then we will take you to Murchison National Park falls in the evening and you will take a ferry to Paraa

Safari Lodge. Dinner and night will tale place at Paraa Safari Lodge or Budget Red Chili Camp (FB).

Day 6- Murchison Falls National Park Tour

 

After breakfast we will take you to Kaniyo Pabidi in Budongo forest for chimpanzee trailing and forest birds such as the white-thighed hornbill,chocolate-backed

kingfisher, chestnut-winged starling, trogon, narina and puvel'silladopsis which is found nowhere else in East Africa. You will go back to the lodge for lunch and

enjoy a boat cruise at the bottom of the Murchison falls in the afternoon. The cruise to the base of the falls is the highlight of most trips to Murchison Falls, but

the cruise from Paraa towards Lake Albert delta is best for bird watchers because it gives a great opportunity to see shoebills, especially during the rainy

season. You will see hundreds of hippos, the largest crocodiles in Africa, black-and-white colobus monkeys, small herds of buffalo, bushbucks, waterbucks,

kobs, giraffes, elephants, and if lucky lions and leopards.


Day 7- Murchison Falls Game drive


In the early morning after breakfast, get on a game drive in the north of the River Nile following a delta trail that runs west from the Paraa ferry to the Lake Albert

delta. The 20 square km area of grassland bordering the Victoria Nile delta which flows into Lake Albert is a great attraction to any visitor.

Day 8 - Return to Kampala


You will have a game drive on your way back to Kampala with a car or a chartered flight. Enjoy dinner and night at The Lodge-Lweza for an easy ride to Entebbe Airport.


 

14 Days Birding Tour in Semuliki, Kibale & Bwindi Forests, Lake Mburo


Day 1 - Arrival and Birding


Our company representative will warmly welcome you and drive you to your hotel upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Depending on your time of

arrival you may go birding in either the botanical precincts or the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. Any of these places offer a good sample of Uganda’s bird

species. Spend the night at Sheraton Hotel, Hotel Africana, Imperial Botanical Beach or any other hotel of your choice.


Day 2 - Transfer to Semuliki National Park


After an early breakfast, get on the move to Semuliki National park on the road passing through Fort Portal Bundibugyo. This route offers the majestic Mountains

of the Moon sceneries and diverse plantations. After resting you will go for late afternoon birding. You will find your way through beautiful Borasus savannah and

widespread grass lands that harbor bird species such as the African grey hornbill, common scimitarbill, guinea fowl, crested francolin and many more. Spend the

night at Semuliki Safari Lodge.


Day 3 - Whole day birding in Semuliki National Park


After an early morning breakfast, take your packed lunch to start a whole day birding inKirumira forest. The early dawn birding will allow you to see species such
as night jars, African scops, owls, and pearl spotted owlets. Being a home to some Congo bird species, this birding safari will also reward you with looking at red

breasted sparrow hawks, African piculets,African pied hornbills,zenkels, red billed, pipings, dwarfs and Pygmy kingfishers, nkurengu rail, honey guide red

rumpledtinkerbird, rufous sided broadbills, black chested cuckoos,Green tailed bristle bills, white bellied, white thighed, black and white casqued, forest scrub

robins, fire crested alethes, red bellied and blue billed malimbe, black wattled, swamp palm bulbuls, black bills and white crested hornbills, leaf love and many

more. Have dinner and spend the nightat Semuliki safari lodge.

 

Day 4 - Whole day birding Semuliki National Park

 
After breakfast and bringing packed lunch, you willhave another birding touron either the mainSempayatrack or the Kirumiratrack, depending on the previous day’s results.

Day 5 - Birding in Sebitoli


After taking a cup of tea early in the morning, you will drive to Kibale national park’s birding site, recommended as the best in Uganda.As you reach

Sebitolibirding site in the afternoon, you willhave lunch and be enchanted of your visit. Look out for specialspecies liketoro olive and Cameroon somber green

buls, African black duck, joyful cabanis, brown-capped weaver, brown and scaly breasted illadopsis, velvet-mantled drongos, pink-footed puff back,  bocage's

bush-shrike, green-throated sunbird, green-breasted pita, African pita, headed sunbird and many more. The dinner and night will take place at Ndali Lodge/

Kanyanchu tourist centre.

Day 6 - Whole day birding in Kibale


Early in the morning after breakfast,go for a guided birdingjourney in the Kanyanchu area where you will watch for birds: grey parrots, the African go-shwak,

masked apalis, the grand crowned eagleand many more. You will have a picnic in the forest in the afternoon and head to the Bigodi wetland refuge through the

magombe swamp to see birds such as papyrus canary, papyrus gonolek, brown headed tchagra and mosque swallow. Have dinner and spend the night at Ndali lodge or Chimp Nest Lodge.


Day 7 - Birding in Bwindi


Look at birds and have a game enroute on your waytoBwindi Impenetrable National Park but your birding journeycontinues in Buhoma area in the afternoon.You

will have dinner and spend a night at Gorilla forest camp orBuhoma Community Rest Camp.


Day 8 - Whole day birding in Bwindi


Early in the morning after breakfast,dwelve into the forest on the waterfall track for birding. Look out for birds such as cinnamon-chested bee-eaters, Kivu ground

thrushes, mountain buzzards, Mackinnon's fiscals, sooty boubous, barred long-tailed cuckoos, African hill-babblers, Ayre's hawk-eagle, black-and-white shriker-

flycatchers,white bellied robins, chat and slender billed starling dusky tits, ashy flycatchers, chin-spot batis, Rwenzoribatis, dusky-blue flycatchers, Doherty's

bush-shrikes. You will see birds along the main track in the afternoon as you go down to the camp and then move along the long track to Ubwindi for more

birding adventures. Gorilla forest Camp or Buhoma community Rest Camp will have you as their guest for dinner and night.


Day 9 - Whole day Gorilla Tracking Bwindi/Buhoma


After breakfastearly in the morning go for birding on the longtrack to Mubwindi as well as on the short track in the afternoon. Watch out for the bird oriole,dwarf

honey guide, oriole finch, bar tailed trogon, carruthers’ cisticola, red chestedflufftail, waller’s starling, black –billed turaco,montanebarbet, and the cabanis’s green

bull. As you do your bird search youwill have an opportunity to search for gorillas as well. You will have dinner and spend the night at Gorilla forest Camp/

Buhoma community Rest Camp.


Day 10 - Birding on the Neck continuing to Ruhiija


After an early morning breakfastgo birding in the Ruhiija area and look out for birds like the grey-throated barbet, red-tailed and shelley'sgreenbull, common

buzzard, Red-throated alethe, African shrike-flycatcher ayres's hawk-eagle, black bee-eater and cinnamon-chested bee-eater and many more. Have dinner and

spend the night at Gorilla forest Camp orBuhoma community Rest Camp.

Day 11 - Bwindi to Lake Mburo National Park

 
Drive towards Lake Mburo National Park along Kabale road after an early breakfast. Along the entrance road to Rwonyo in the late afternoon you willlook out for

acacia associated bird species like the rupell’s long-tailed starling, mosque swallow and black bellied bustard. Have dinnerand spend the night at Mantana

Tented camp.


Day 12 - Lake Mburo to Kampala


As you go back to Kampala you will drivealong the lake side trail and Kigambira loop while looking out for birds like the batelour, green-capped eremomela, austral migrant, black cuckoo-shrike tawny,African hawk and many more species. You will arrive in the evening for dinner andspend the night at Hotel Africana or Sheraton Hotel The Lodge-Lweza.


Day 14 - End Of the birding safari


One of our staff members will take you to Entebbe International Airport for your flight.
